A little over a year ago I received a call from Gray Paws founder, Darla Poole, that a senior (16) Shih Tzu was taken to the vet by the owner to be euthanized. There was nothing physically wrong with Happy. Sadly, the senior owner could no longer handle him. Thank goodness the vet refused to euthanize a healthy dog! A friend of the owner contacted Gray Paws Sanctuary to help. I volunteered to pick him up. I went to the home and met him and the owner. After a sad conversation for an hour or so, Happy and I were on our way home. Happy is creeping up on 18 yrs old and still going strong. He is living his best life with his fur siblings (cat and dog) and new humans. We love him and will forever!
